Public and Stakeholder Groups Invited to Provide Feedback on
Impacts from Recent Changes to Employment Insurance

The Advisory Panel on the Pan-Atlantic study of the impact of recent changes to Employment Insurance (Advisory Panel) is inviting the public and stakeholders to provide submissions that outline specific and concrete impacts they have experienced as a result of recent changes to Employment Insurance (EI).

“This consultation process is an important part of determining the current impacts stemming from the Federal Government’s changes to EI,” said panel chair Pierre-Marcel Desjardins, “We are asking affected Atlantic Canadians to participate in the consultation process to assist us in fully understanding the current labour market and to determine the impacts of the changes.”

Members of the public are encouraged to provide information to the panel by participating in a telephone survey designed to capture information that will be used to assess the impacts of the changes. Registrations to participate in the survey will be accepted until January 7 by calling 1-855-681-8210 or by registering online at www.cap-cpma.ca Opens in a new window.

Stakeholders and effected organizations will receive invitations to participate in scheduled sessions in the coming weeks with representatives from the Advisory Panel within their province to share the impacts they have observed to date. Members of the public or organizations can also request an opportunity to appear before the Advisory Panel sessions.

Written submissions will also be accepted by mail or email until January 31, 2014.

“The results of these consultations will complement the information we have already gathered through the Council of Atlantic Premiers recently commissioned study on federal EI changes,” said Mr. Desjardins.
