Strengthening Communities Through Responsible Investments
$1 Million Invested in Capital Works Projects in Baie Verte-Springdale District
The Provincial Government places a high priority on the renewal of rural infrastructure, and has committed $1 million for capital works projects cost-shared with the communities of Fleur de Lys, Rattling Brook, Pacquet and Ming’s Bight.
“The funding of municipal capital works projects in rural Newfoundland
and Labrador is a top priority for the Provincial Government. This $1
million investment will benefit a number of communities, and will provide
upgraded road infrastructure and improved municipal facilities. We are also
demonstrating our commitment to clean and safe drinking water through the
funding of a new potable water dispensing unit in Pacquet.”
- The Honourable Steve Kent, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental
Affairs
In Fleur de Lys, $401,000 is being committed to complete work on a new town hall-fire hall complex. In Rattling Brook, $125,000 will fund work to improve roads and curb stops. In Pacquet, $370,000 will fund the installation of a potable water dispensing unit. In Ming’s Bight, $137,000 is being committed to replace the bridge at Trimm’s Brook.
“I am delighted to see this strong investment for the residents of this
area. Our town councils have worked very hard to bring these projects to
fruition, and residents and visitors will all benefit from improved services
across the region.”
- Kevin Pollard, MHA for Baie Verte-Springdale
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to supporting important social programs, strong communities and the health and well-being of children, families and seniors.
