Public Advisory: Adverse Weather Conditions Anticipated Throughout Newfoundland and Labrador

Fire and Emergency Services - Newfoundland and Labrador (FES-NL) wishes to advise residents to be cautious around coastlines and waterways over the coming days.

Officials with Environment Canada are forecasting the current weather system affecting Newfoundland and Labrador will generate high winds and significant precipitation for the island and southern Labrador. As well, seven to 10 metre waves are likely to develop by tomorrow morning (Thursday, November 21) in western Notre Dame Bay with these waves spreading eastward and subsiding slightly during the day on Friday, November 22.

FES-NL encourages residents to be mindful of these conditions, and avoid coastal areas if at all possible. Conditions may be extremely hazardous and emergency management officials advise the public to use extreme caution.

Residents are also reminded to follow the latest weather forecast for further warnings and advisories and to take measures to ensure personal safety. More information can be found at weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=nl
