$154,000 in Water and Sewer Work for the Town of Millertown

Important water and sewer upgrades are about to get underway through a cost-shared investment of $154,000 in municipal capital works funding for the Town of Millertown.

“Water and sewer infrastructure is one of the most important and basic of services delivered in municipalities across the province,” said the Honourable Kevin O'Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs. “This $154,000 will assist in completing an important project to benefit the people of Millertown, and it demonstrates our commitment to this priority area. Since 2008, the Provincial Government has invested over $650 million in infrastructure including water and sewer and recreation projects across the province.”

This funding will cover improvements to water and sewer services on Beothuck Street and Main Street in the town. Funding is cost-shared with the Provincial Government providing 90 per cent of the funding and the Town of Millertown covering the remaining 10 per cent.

“I am so pleased to see this strong investment, which will provide improved wastewater services for the residents of Millertown,” said the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Health and Community Services, and MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor - Buchans. “It is encouraging to see the work being done in this area by council for the betterment of residents, and I am glad that the Provincial Government has been able to support this project as well.”

Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future includes funding for the second year of a $130 million municipal capital works program. This investment is funding important infrastructure projects for towns and cities, and is delivering better services for families in areas such as water and waste water, recreation, road repair, and fire services, across the province.
