Media Advisory: Minister to Announce Details of Phase Two of the Alarmed and Ready NL Challenge

The Honourable Kevin O’Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister Responsible for Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador, will be joined by representatives from the Insurance Bureau of Canada and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services to announce details of the second phase of the Alarmed and Ready NL Challenge.

The event will take place tomorrow (Tuesday, September 10) at 1:30 p.m. at the Conception Bay South Fire Department located on the Conception Bay South Highway.

The Alarmed and Ready campaign provides smoke alarms and nine volt batteries to fire departments to perform outreach in communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The outreach activities promote the provincial regulation that requires each residence to have working smoke alarms installed and explains the importance of fire safety for families year-round.
