$450,000 in Funding Announced for Projects in the
Town of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity

The Provincial Government along with the Town of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity is committing $450,000 in funding to complete water and road work projects in the community. The announcement was made today by the Honourable Kevin O’Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Eli Cross, MHA for Bonavista North and Churence Rogers, Mayor of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity.

“This $450,000 in funding being provided to the town will improve some of the basic infrastructure that residents require in their day to day lives,” said Minister O’Brien. “The funding of these types of projects is a top priority of the Provincial Government and since 2008, over $650 million has been invested across the province.”

This project will see $56,000 allocated for upgrades to the existing sewage pumping station in Centerville-Wareham-Trinity and $42,000 to replace the existing water main valves. In addition, $350,000 is being allocated for the rehabilitation and recapping of one kilometer of the main road in Wareham.

“Residents have been experiencing problems and back-up in their water and sewer system which can create potential health hazards,” said MHA Cross. “The upgrading of these systems along with the roadwork which will be completed is important to the well-being and safety of residents in my district.”

Funding for this project is cost-shared with the Provincial Government providing 90 per cent of the funding and the Town of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity covering the remaining ten per cent.

“I am pleased to see the Provincial Government investing along with the town in these key projects for Centreville-Wareham-Trinity,” said Mayor Rogers. “It is important that our infrastructure be kept in good working order to continue to provide basic services to residents.”

Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future includes funding for the second year of a $130 million municipal capital works program. This investment is funding important infrastructure projects for towns and cities, and is delivering better services for families in areas such as water and waste water, recreation, road repair, and fire services, across the province.
