Steve Kent, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement, will attend the opening ceremony of the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Regional High School Competition today (Friday, May 3).

The event begins at 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Marine Institute, Ridge Road Campus, St. John’s.

The MATE ROV competition allows high school students from across the province the opportunity to design, build and operate an ROV while honing their project management, innovation, technical and team work skills. This regional event is a part of an international student competition organized by the MATE centre in Monterey, California.
