Radio Bell Island Congratulated on Station Launch

At today’s station launch of Radio Bell Island, the Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, announced that $15,000 will be provided for equipment for the station.

“This project supports tourism development and communication infrastructure in a rural setting,” said the Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development. “Radio Bell Island will promote and develop the unique culture and heritage of Bell Island while supporting and diversifying the local economy. It is also very encouraging to see this initiative being led by community leaders and volunteers.”

David Brazil, MHA for Conception Bay East - Bell Island was also at the launch of Radio Bell Island.

“The station will equip its volunteers with a valuable skill set while bringing an important service to Bell Island, Conception Bay, and other listening areas,” said MHA Brazil. “It will also be a key asset for visitors to the region.”

The Provincial Government is focused on developing a diversified economic environment that supports private sector business growth, entrepreneurship, innovation, and opportunities for the people of the province; and continues to advance initiatives that strengthen rural regions, through its business and economic development programs.
