Media Advisory: Premier Announces Date for By-Election in District of Carbonear-Harbour Grace
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced that the by-election in Carbonear-Harbour Grace will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013.
“I am pleased to announce that the residents of the District of Carbonear-Harbour Grace will have the opportunity on November 26 to elect their representative in the House of Assembly,” said Premier Dunderdale. “I encourage all residents eligible to vote to participate in the democratic process and to provide their input into who will take on the important role of being their representative in the legislature.”
The House of Assembly Act was amended in 2004 to ensure by-elections are announced within 60 days and conducted within 90 days of vacancy. The Carbonear-Harbour Grace seat was vacated on October 2, 2013.
