Media Advisory: Minister and Community Partners to Launch
Sexual Violence Awareness Week

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women and Lead Minister for the Violence Prevention Initiative, will officially launch Sexual Violence Awareness Week on Monday, September 16. Minister Johnson will be joined by members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre and the Sexual Violence Awareness Week Committee, as well as the violence prevention and women’s community to sign the annual proclamation and discuss the continuing challenge of sexual violence in our communities.

The event will get underway at 10:00 a.m. in the main lobby, East Block, Confederation Building.

This year’s theme for Sexual Violence Awareness Week is Breaking Out of the Box: Changing the conversation surrounding sexual violence in Newfoundland and Labrador.
