Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Events Commemorating the Battle of Britain

The Honourable Felix Collins, Minister for Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Affairs, will represent the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador at the Battle of Britain 73rd Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving on Sunday, September 15, at 11:00 a.m. at Gower Street United Church, St. John’s.

A wreath laying service will follow at 12:25 p.m. at the National War Memorial on Water Street where Minister Collins will lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Battle of Britain is the name given to the air campaign waged by the German Luftwaffe against the United Kingdom in the summer and fall of 1940. It was the first major military battle to be fought entirely in the air.
