Media Advisory: Premier to Attend 37th Annual
Conference of
New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will attend the 37th Annual Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers (NEG/ECP) in La Malbaie, Quebec, September 8-9. This year’s conference is co-hosted by Quebec Premier Pauline Marois and Rhode Island Governor Lincoln D. Chafee.
Discussion topics will include the region’s energy future, regional initiatives encouraging greater use of energy-efficient vehicles, adaptation to climate change and mutual assistance during times of emergency, as well as a number of other issues of regional importance.
NEG/ECP represents 11 jurisdictions, comprising the six New England Governors and the five Eastern Canadian Premiers.
Established in 1973, the conference advances the interests of the region through cooperation and encourages collaboration with the private sector. The NEG/ECP Conference has addressed a number of topics over the years including trade, energy, economic development, environment, oceans, forestry, agriculture, fisheries, transportation, information technology and tourism.
