Provincial Government to be Represented at 41st
Combined Councils of Labrador Annual General Meeting

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will have a strong presence at this year’s Combined Councils of Labrador Annual General Meeting taking place in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, April 10-13, at the Hotel North Two.

The Honourable Nick McGrath, Minister of Service NL and Minister Responsible for Labrador Affairs; the Honourable Kevin O’Brien, Minister of Municipal Affairs; the Honourable Paul Davis, Minister of Transportation and Works; the Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development; and, the Honourable Felix Collins, Minister for Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Affairs, along with Keith Russell, MHA for Lake Melville, will all participate in this year’s AGM.

“The Combined Councils of Labrador Annual General Meeting provides a great opportunity for representatives of all regions of Labrador to discuss important issues and work together to build an even stronger future for Labradorians,” said Minister McGrath. “I am pleased that many of my colleagues will be in Happy Valley-Goose Bay this week to take part in important discussions that will help to identify priorities and ways to advance the social and economic opportunities of Labrador.”

Minister Davis will be available to the media at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in the main lobby of the Hotel North Two to provide an update on work planned for the Trans Labrador Highway. He will be joined by Minister McGrath.

Minister McGrath will be the keynote speaker at a luncheon beginning at noon on Saturday, April 13, at the United Church, 105 Hamilton River Road.

Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future maintains an annual grant of $100,000 in operational funding for the Combined Councils of Labrador. The Combined Councils serves to represent Labrador communities through a unified voice to address the unique challenges of the region.
