Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Brien’s Pond RV Park                                                        
(Reg. 1735)
Proponent: IDAM Holdings Ltd.

The proponent proposes the development of an 85-hectare recreational park with approximately 200 RV sites and 50 camping sites to accommodate recreational vehicles and other campers. The proposed site is to be located at Brien’s Pond, approximately eight kilometres from the Town of Avondale. Phase 1 of the planned construction and facilities also includes an artesian well, dumping station, access road, ancillary roads, comfort station and water, sewer and electrical services to each RV lot. Other facilities will include a registration centre, welcome centre, recreation centre and playgrounds. Expansion of the facilities is expected in Phase 2 of the development of the park. Construction is planned to begin in April 2014.

The undertaking was registered on December 12, 2013; the deadline for public comments is January 16, 2014; and the minister’s decision is due by January 23, 2014.
