Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Indian River-Springdale Branch Forage Farm                         (Reg. 1734)
Proponent: D&J Farms

The proponent proposes to develop approximately 10 hectares of land for forage production adjacent to and on the north side of Indian River, approximately 650 metres south west of the junction of Springdale Branch (Route 390) and King’s Point Branch (Route 391). All arable soils will be developed for forage (hay) production and all non-arable soils including a 15-metre buffer next to Indian River will be left intact. There is an existing access road to the site. Land clearing and development will start in the spring of 2014.

The undertaking was registered on December 4, 2013; the deadline for public comments is January 10, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due by January 18, 2014.
