Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

Forest Management District 23 Five Year Operating Plan (2013-2017)                (Reg. 1694)
Proponent: Department of Natural Resources

Tors Cove Brown Rabbit RV Park                                                                        (Reg. 1708)
Proponent: Whalen Bernardy Co Ltd.

The project is released subject to the following conditions:

• A 150 metre buffer must be maintained between Brown Rabbit RV Park and Harbour Construction Limited Quarry.
• A 15 metre separating distance between the proposed access road and the existing access road for the Harbour Construction Limited Quarry must be maintained.
• A 30 metre naturally-vegetated buffer must be maintained between the Brown Rabbit RV Park and Pigeon House Pond and Three Corner Pond.

Buchans Highway Quarry                                                                                   (Reg. 1709)
Proponent: Penney Paving Limited

The project is released subject to the following conditions:

• An undisturbed 50 metre buffer must be maintained between construction and operation activities and the Exploits River.
• A Site Drainage and Silt Control Plan must be submitted to the Water Resources Management Division for approval under the Water Resources Act prior to starting construction.
• No vegetation clearing can occur at the site during the migratory songbird nesting, breeding and brood rearing season of May to mid-July.
• Exiting tree screens must be maintained, undisturbed, between the operation and Route 370.
