The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT GUIDELINES FOR PUBLIC REVIEW:

Proponent: Labec Century Iron Ore                                        (Reg. 1674)

The proposed Joyce Lake Direct Shipping Iron Ore Project in Labrador is undergoing a provincial environmental assessment and requires an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project. The Environmental Assessment Committee has prepared draft EIS Guidelines that identify the information that the proponent must include in its EIS. The Minister is seeking public and aboriginal input into the draft EIS guidelines as required by legislation. The public and aboriginal groups are invited to review the Project and draft EIS Guidelines and provide comments during the review period from June 4, 2013 to July 15, 2013. Comments received will be reviewed and considered before the EIS guidelines are finalized and issued to the proponent.
