Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Logy Bay Road Waste Drill Mud Treatment                                  (Reg. 1710)
Proponent: Crosbie Industrial Services Limited

The proponent proposes to add a pug mill operation along with a lime holding tank to the current holding tanks and water treatment systems at Logy Bay Road. The pug mill would be used to solidify and stabilize the waste drill muds for full treatment to allow for local disposal. The area required for the waste treatment processing unit would be six metres by nine metres and it would take approximately 21 days to assemble. Construction is proposed to begin on July 1, 2013.

The undertaking was registered on May 13, 2013; the deadline for public comments is June 20, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due by June 27, 2013.

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT REQUIRED:

Flat Bay Petroleum Exploration Wells & Access Road                     (Reg. 1702)
Proponent: Investcan Energy Corp.

The minister has advised the proponent that an Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required for this project. The EPR is necessary to address project design and operation details for the undertaking, including but not limited to: assessment of the geological containment of the basin outside the well bore, drilling methodology, berm design, storage, analysis and handling of drilling fluids, and well decommissioning. The public will be invited to provide comments on the EPR upon its submission.
