Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Forteau (Buckles Point) Marine Terminal
(Reg. 1700)
Proponent: C&T Enterprises Ltd.
The proponent proposes to develop a four hectare site to serve as a marine terminal on Buckles Point in the Town of Forteau, Labrador. The proposed site is to include a 2.8 hectare laydown area and a 1.2 hectare wharf structure. The wharf will be designed with a rock approach extending from the shoreline some 130 metres to a rock-filled structure. The footprint of the approach and the wharf will be approximately 1.14 hectares. Construction of the wharf structure is anticipated to take seven months to complete.
The undertaking was registered on March 20, 2013; the deadline for public comments is April 25, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due by May 4, 2013.
Deer Lake Commercial Subdivision

Proponent: V & J Tectonic Inc.
The proponent has submitted a proposal to construct a commercial and residential subdivision on a tract of land in Deer Lake. The area to be affected by the undertaking is approximately 117 hectares and will include commercial businesses, commercial office complexes, transportation facilities, metal fabrication zone, residential lots, green belts and walking trails. The project site is adjacent to a portion of the Glide Lake forest access road and Squires Road in the Town of Deer Lake. Construction is scheduled to begin upon approval and will be completed in five phases over a five-year construction period.
The undertaking was registered on March 21, 2013; the deadline for public comments is April 26, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due by May 5, 2013.
Roddickton Access Road - Between Sail Pond and Coles Pond
Proponent: Apostolic Faith Mission
(Reg. 1701)
The proponent proposes to construct an access road between Sail Pond and Coles Pond in the Roddickton Area. The purpose of this road is to make the Youth Camp site accessible via road and eliminate the need to transport campers over the waters of Coles Pond. The road will be approximately 1.3 kilometres in length. Construction is scheduled to being in Spring 2013.
The undertaking was registered on March 21, 2013; the deadline for public comments is April 26, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due by May 5, 2013.
