Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

Muskrat Falls South Side Access Road Extension                  (Reg. 1692)
Proponent: Nalcor Energy

The proponent proposes to construct a 5.5 kilometre extension to the south side access road to the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric generating facility work site. The proposed access road will intersect the Trans Labrador Highway approximately two kilometres south of Blackrock Bridge on the Churchill River. The road will be used for permanent access to the hydroelectric generating facility. Construction of the road is scheduled to commence in mid-April 2013 and will take approximately six weeks to complete.

The undertaking was registered on February 19, 2013; the deadline for public comments is April 3, 2013; and the minister’s decision is due by April 5, 2013.
