Exterior Upgrades Planned for Vanier Elementary

A retaining wall at Vanier Elementary in St. John’s will soon be replaced, following the recent award of a tender, valued at $91,120, to Weir’s Construction Ltd.

“It is important that we maintain existing infrastructure, both interiors and exteriors, to ensure our school environments remain safe for students and staff,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “With this latest project, more than $625,000 has been allocated for upgrades to Vanier Elementary in recent years.”

About 300 students attend Vanier, a K-6 school.

Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides almost $102 million for new and ongoing school infrastructure projects. Since 2004, about $620 million has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the province, including almost $220 million for more than 1,850 repair and maintenance projects.
