Close to $179,000 Earmarked for Gym Roof at Clarenville School
Coastal Roofing Ltd. of St. John’s has been awarded a tender to replace the
gymnasium roof at Clarenville Middle School.
“This project, valued at $178,822, is another example of the work the
Provincial Government is doing to protect its investment in existing school
infrastructure and provide improved facilities for students and staff,” said
the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “It is the latest in a
series of more than 1,850 repairs and maintenance projects undertaken by
government in the past 10 years.”
Clarenville Middle School serves about 300 students from Grades 7-9. Work is
expected to start in early September.
“The District of Trinity North has benefited immensely from the investments
in school infrastructure,” said the Honourable Ross Wiseman, Speaker of the
House of Assembly and MHA for Trinity North. “This announcement today is
another of the many improvements made within the region in recent years.”
Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides almost $102 million for
new and ongoing school infrastructure projects. Since 2004, about $620
million has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the
province, including almost $220 million for repairs and maintenance
projects.
