Over $100,000 Approved for Roofing at Bell Island School
Boss Construction Group of St. John’s has been awarded a tender to undertake
a roofing project at St. Michael’s High on Bell Island.
“This project will see over $100,000 invested to replace a section of the
roof and ensure a continued safe and comfortable learning environment for
students and staff,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of
Education. “This is just one example of the kind of work the Provincial
Government is doing to protect its investment in existing school
infrastructure across Newfoundland and Labrador.”
St. Michael’s High serves about 180 students in Grades 7-12. The roofing
work is expected to be completed this fall.
“The entire St. Michael’s school community is dedicated to providing maximum
opportunities for student learning and personal growth,” said David Brazil,
MHA for Conception Bay East-Bell Island. “This announcement continues the
investment this administration has made to improve the quality of education
at St. Michael’s and throughout Conception Bay East - Bell Island.”
Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides almost $102 million for
new and ongoing school infrastructure projects. Since 2004, about $620
million has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the
province, including almost $220 million for more than 1,850 repairs and
maintenance projects.
