Renovations Continue at St. John Bosco

CMH Construction of Mount Pearl has been awarded a tender to undertake renovations to St. John Bosco, a K-9 school in the Shea Heights area of St. John’s.

“This project, valued at almost $266,000, is the latest in a series of improvements to St. John Bosco and includes the replacement of stairs to the gymnasium entrance and a number of exterior doors,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “The Provincial Government is continuing its systematic approach to providing upgrades, renovations and repairs to schools throughout the province. This approach is designed to both protect our investment in existing school facilities, and to continue to provide our students with safe and comfortable learning environments.”

With this latest approval, more than $1.5 million has been invested in St. John Bosco over the past several years, including roofing, window replacements, an electrical upgrade, improvements to the gymnasium floor and other general interior upgrades.

Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides almost $102 million for new and ongoing school infrastructure projects, including more than $21.4 million for major repairs and maintenance projects.

Since 2004, about $620 million has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the province, including almost $220 million for more than 1,850 repairs and maintenance projects.
