Media Advisory: Ministers to Tour New Carbonear School

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education, will tour the newly-constructed Carbonear Academy, Monday, July 29, at 1:30 p.m. The Minister will be joined by the Honourable Jerome Kennedy, Minister of Finance and MHA for Carbonear-Harbour Grace.

The $22 million school will accommodate area students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and feature a fitness centre, cafeteria, music room, art room, technology education suite, and more. The school is scheduled to open in September. Construction of a four-classroom expansion to address higher than anticipated enrolment has also been approved. The expansion is expected to be completed in early 2014.

As this is a construction site, members of the media are asked to wear appropriate footwear. Hard hats, safety vests, and other safety gear will be provided at the site.
