Twillingate School to Get Roofing Replaced
The roof at Twillingate Island Elementary will soon be getting a major
upgrade, following the recent award of a tender to LSG Construction Ltd. of
Gander.
“While schools are closed this summer, contractors are working hard on
upgrades to school infrastructure across the province,” said the Honourable
Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “This particular project will see more
than $368,000 invested to replace the roofing at Twillingate Island
Elementary.”
Minister Jackman noted that, with this latest project, over $520,000 has
been invested in the school in recent years, including upgrades to the
gymnasium floor, lockers, and other interior improvements.
“Our government is committed to investing in infrastructure throughout
Newfoundland and Labrador,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of
Fisheries and Aquaculture and MHA for The Isles of Notre Dame. “Major
upgrades to the roof at Twillingate Island Elementary will help ensure a
quality learning and teaching environment for students and staff.”
Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides almost $102 million for
new and ongoing school infrastructure projects, including more than $21.4
million for repairs and maintenance projects. Since 2004, about $620 million
has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the province,
including almost $220 million for more than 1,850 repairs and maintenance
projects, including roofing, window and siding replacements, electrical
upgrades and more.
