More than $616,000 Invested in Ferryland School for Exterior Upgrades

Baltimore School Complex in Ferryland is getting a partial window replacement and exterior upgrades, following the recent award of a tender to Eastern Contracting of Mount Pearl.

“This $616,000 tender is part of the systematic approach the Provincial Government has taken over the past 10 years to upgrading existing school facilities in order to protect our investment in public infrastructure and continue to provide appropriate teaching and learning environments,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “This project is the latest in more than 1,850 substantial repair and maintenance projects approved for schools since 2004.”

Work on the school will start this summer.

“Improvements made to school infrastructure are important to the continued growth and development of our region,” said the Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development and MHA for Ferryland. “These upgrades will ensure present and future students at Baltimore School Complex will continue to enjoy a safe and healthy learning environment.”

Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides almost $102 million for new and ongoing school infrastructure projects, including more than $21.4 million for major repairs and maintenance projects.
