Tender Awarded for Electrical Upgrade at Badger School

A tender valued at more than $559,000 has been awarded to Industrial Commercial Maintenance Ltd. of Corner Brook to complete electrical upgrades at Avoca Collegiate in Badger.

“Our government is committed to investing in the upkeep of existing infrastructure to ensure our schools remain safe environments for students, staff and school communities,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “With this latest contract, more than $1 million has been approved for upgrades to Avoca Collegiate in recent years.”

Work on the K-9 school will begin this summer.

“This is very welcome news for the students, staff and residents of Badger,” said the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Health and Community Services and MHA for Grand Falls-Windsor - Buchans. “We are always pleased to see enhancements to our educational facilities.”

Budget 2013: A Sound Plan, A Secure Future provides almost $102 million for new and ongoing school infrastructure projects. Since 2004, about $620 million has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the province, including almost $220 million for more than 1,850 repairs and maintenance projects.
