Tender Awarded for Roofing at Gros Morne Academy

A tender valued at more than $137,000 has been awarded to Island Roofing Co. Ltd. of Cox’s Cove to replace a section of the roof at Gros Morne Academy in Rocky Harbour.

“With this tender awarded, more than $330,000 has been approved for improvements to Gros Morne Academy in recent years, including interior upgrades and exterior site work,” said the Honorable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “It is important to invest in the upkeep of existing infrastructure to ensure our schools remain safe and comfortable environments in which to teach and learn.”

Work is expected to begin this spring.

Since 2004, about $620 million has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the province, including almost $220 million for more than 1,850 repairs and maintenance projects, including roofing, window and siding replacements, electrical upgrades and more.
