Piccadilly Central High Getting New Windows, Doors

Tech Construction Limited of Corner Brook has been awarded a tender valued at almost $263,000 to replace windows and doors at Piccadilly Central High.

“The Provincial Government is continuing to fund upgrades, renovations and repairs to school infrastructure throughout Newfoundland and Labrador,” said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Education. “With this latest contract, $593,000 has been allocated for work at Piccadilly Central High in recent years, which includes roofing, upgrades to the water supply, and other improvements.”

The replacement of windows and doors is expected to be completed this summer.

“This is great news for the students, parents and staff at Piccadilly Central High,” said Tony Cornect, MHA for Port au Port. “This funding ensures they will continue to have a safe and comfortable learning environment. I am pleased that our government continues to invest in our school infrastructure that will have a lasting and positive outcome for our school community.”

Since 2004, about $567 million has been allocated for school infrastructure throughout the province, including more than $200 million for repairs and maintenance. More than 1,850 repairs and maintenance projects have been approved, including roofing, window replacements, electrical upgrades, and more.

In addition, nine new schools have opened; 10 more are in various stages of planning or construction; 12 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and seven more are underway or in the planning stages.
