Minister Congratulates College of the North Atlantic
and State of Qatar for Renewing Agreement

The Honourable Joan Shea, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills, congratulated College of the North Atlantic and the State of Qatar today for agreeing to a renewal of their Comprehensive Agreement. The ongoing partnership represents Newfoundland and Labrador having the largest international post-secondary agreement involving a North American institution and is valued in excess of $1 billion.

“The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is pleased to continue the partnership that has been built with the Qatari government and the College of the North Atlantic campus in Qatar,” said Minister Shea. “This September marks 11 years of delivering academic programming to students at the campus in Qatar, and this agreement will allow the campus to continue to produce highly-skilled graduates who will strengthen the economy in the region and around the world.”

The College of the North Atlantic has looked beyond its borders to deliver programs, recruit students and seek out global experiences. Growing from 300 students in 11 programs in 2002, to 2,550 students and 37 programs in 2012, its Qatar campus has become one of the largest Canadian higher-education campuses outside Canada.
