Public Advisory: Asbestos Removal at Confederation Building Facility

The Department of Transportation and Works advises the public that asbestos has been found under a section of the Confederation Building parking lot during recent excavation work.

Beginning today (Monday, July 23) and continuing until August 1, the Department of Transportation and Works will be removing the contaminated material in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations. This work poses no risk to the public.

Barriers will be maintained around the excavation site, personnel wearing specialized equipment will be onsite, and machinery will be brought in to facilitate the removal process. Staff and visitors are asked to please observe fencing and signage that will be in place during this period.
