Province Supports Annual Jazz and Blues Musical Festival
The 2012 Wreckhouse International Jazz and Blues Festival received $25,000 through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program to assist with production costs. The five-day event wrapped up this past weekend.
“The Wreckhouse International Jazz and Blues Festival has just completed another successful event showcasing blues, jazz, funk, and rhythm and blues by local, national, and international artists,” said the Honourable Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “The Provincial Government is proud to support our arts community through events such as Wreckhouse, featuring some of our incredible musical talent.”

“The Provincial Government’s funding grant is certainly appreciated,” said Sean Panting, Executive Director, Wreckhouse International Jazz and Blues Festival. “Each year this event provides an opportunity to experience a wide-range of world-class jazz and blues performances, while also providing professional development for musicians of all ages. Without the province’s support, this festival would not continue to thrive the way it has over the last decade.”
Budget 2012: People and Prosperity provides $2.9 million through its Cultural Economic Development Program to support arts, cultural, and heritage initiatives throughout the province. Projects are selected based on the strength of the business plan, vision, and potential development within the sector.
