Road Work Planned for Trinity - Bay de Verde

A number of roads in Trinity - Bay de Verde will see upgrading and repaving this construction season as the Provincial Government continues to invest in transportation infrastructure.

“Our government continues to move forward with its aggressive infrastructure investment strategy,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works. “As part of this strategy we are investing in the transportation system in every corner of this province to the benefit of those who drive our roads and highways every day.”

Upgrading and repaving will begin on Heart’s Content Barrens and on sections of Route 70 between Perry’s Cove and Salmon Cove and between Burnt Point and Gull Island. Culverts will be installed at Halfway Brook in Winterton and Back Road in Grates Cove. Upgrading and repaving will also be completed on Grates Cove Road.

“I am pleased with the announcement of this tender and look forward to the completion of the work in this region,” said the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Child, Youth and Family Services and MHA for Trinity - Bay de Verde. “A strong transportation network helps reinforce every aspect of our communities, from commerce and tourism to the everyday travels of our residents.”

Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides funding of $216.4 million for road and bridge improvements, supplemented by an additional $35.2 million in Federal Government funding, for a total road and bridge investment in 2011-12 of $251.6 million.
