Minister Comments on Fatal Accident on the Outer Ring Road

The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works, today issued the following statement regarding the fatal accident that occurred on the Outer Ring Road yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, July 5).

"It was a terrible shock to hear of the tragic accident on the Outer Ring Road yesterday afternoon involving three individuals. Sadly, this collision claimed the life of a long-serving employee of the Department of Transportation and Works. We understand that the two other individuals, who are employed by other parties, were seriously injured.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of our valued employee – a dedicated public servant who lost his life while serving the people of this province. My thoughts and prayers are with them and also with the families and friends of the two injured individuals.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and the department will not be commenting further on this matter until that process has concluded.”
