Road Work Announced for Bonavista North
The Provincial Government’s multi-year infrastructure strategy, valued at more than $5 billion, is resulting in road improvements across Newfoundland and Labrador, including upgrades to several roads and highways in Bonavista North.
“With this tender, we will address some final repairs to areas damaged by Hurricane Igor as well as undertake paving projects in the region,” said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works. “This government continues to implement its record infrastructure strategy, illustrating our commitment to investing in our roads and highways.”
As part of this tender, approximately one kilometre of Gander Bay Road, Route 330, and approximately four kilometres of Greenspond Road, Route 320-33, will be pulverized and paved. A one kilometre section of Carmanville South Road, Route 330-13, and a one kilometre section of Frederickton Road, Route 332, will receive asphalt levelling. Various locations damaged by Hurricane Igor will also see repairs on sections of roads from Greenspond to New-Wes-Valley to Ladle Cove Road, as well as on sections of Newtown Road and Records Road, Victoria Cove.
“This investment will improve many roads in our region,” said the Honourable Harry Harding, Minister of Government Services and MHA for Bonavista North. “The completion of this work will ensure our residents and visitors have reliable transportation infrastructure for years to come.”
Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides funding of $216.4 million for road and bridge improvements, supplemented by an additional $35.2 million in Federal Government funding, for a total road and bridge investment in 2011-12 of $251.6 million.
