Public Advisory: MV Apollo Repair Dates Changed

Residents are advised that while the MV Apollo was originally scheduled to depart the Strait of Belle Isle service for dry dock and repairs on Wednesday, June 8, the vessel will now remain in service up to and including Sunday, June 12. This change in schedule is due to a delay in delivery of replacement parts.

The MV Astron will resume the schedule on Monday, June 13, providing ferry service on the Strait of Belle Isle until the MV Apollo returns. The MV Apollo is expected to be out of service for approximately one week.

The MV Astron will carry freight, vehicles and up to 12 passengers between Blanc Sablon and St. Barbe. This will be supplemented with air service to accommodate passengers.

Air service will be provided with a minimum of two planes which will fly between the airstrips in Forteau, Labrador, and Sandy Cove on the Northern Peninsula and between Blanc Sablon and St. Anthony. A shuttle service will be provided to bring passengers to and from the marine terminals and the air strips.

Ticketing and reservations will continue to be processed through Labrador Marine Inc. Travellers and shippers will be charged the same rates as they would normally be charged if using the MV Apollo.
