Culture Days Ready to Roll in Newfoundland and Labrador

From September 30 to October 2, Newfoundland and Labrador will join other provinces in the celebration of Culture Days. Many activities have been planned including dance showcases, performance poetry, a mussel boil-up, and a backstage look at the Arts and Culture Centres.

“As part of this cross-country event, Culture Days will highlight the works of cultural producers and artists and will engage the public in the artistic process,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “Arts and culture in Newfoundland and Labrador continues to grow in leaps and bounds. Events such as Culture Days will help enhance awareness and understanding of the work of artists throughout the province.”

The Association of Cultural Industries organizes, manages, and executes Culture Days in the province.

“Culture Days gives us the opportunity to celebrate who we are as a people and as a province within Canada,” said Amy House, Chair of the Culture Days Newfoundland and Labrador Task Force. “Artists open their doors to the community and share the process of their work, and the community witness art being made or performed.”
