Financial Support for Museum Association Helps Preserve Heritage

The Museum Association of Newfoundland and Labrador has received $100,000 in operational support through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program to provide programs and services to museums throughout the province.

“Maintaining and preserving our museums is essential to the protection of our history and heritage,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “These museums preserve, present and celebrate community history, and provide visitors with venues to learn more about what makes each community in the province distinct.”

Teresita McCarthy, President of the Museum Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, is pleased with the Provincial Government’s continued support.

“The operational support provided through the Cultural Economic Development Program is an essential piece in the sustainability of the Museum Association of Newfoundland and Labrador,” said Ms. McCarthy. “This funding affords the association the opportunity to better assist the museum community in its efforts to safeguard our rich heritage and our precious stories.”
