Stephenville Theatre Festival Benefits from $30,000 Investment
The Stephenville Theatre Festival will once again entertain residents and visitors, thanks in part to a $30,000 investment through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program.
“The Stephenville Theatre Festival is the longest-running theatre festival in Newfoundland and Labrador and one of the oldest professional theatre festivals in Canada,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “I encourage everyone to take the time to get out and enjoy the great line up of performances being offered this season.”
This year’s festival opens July 15 and runs until August 14.
“I am pleased to see the Stephenville Theatre Festival continue to be supported by the Provincial Government,” said the Honourable Joan Burke, Minister of Education and MHA for St. George’s - Stephenville East. “With an ongoing commitment to art and theatre productions in the area, I am sure the festival will once again be a success and enjoyed by all.”
Festival chair Michael Dawson is appreciative to everyone who has supported the festival over the years.
“On behalf of our artistic producer Keith Pike, and our board of directors, cast, crew, staff, and volunteers, we are thankful for the continued support of the Stephenville Theatre Festival through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program,” said Mr. Dawson. “We have an exciting new program for our viewers this year. Support from the Provincial Government will go a long way towards our success.”
“The Stephenville Theatre Festival is a treasured part of summer entertainment in the area, and a must see for our residents and visitors alike,” said Tony Cornect, MHA for Port au Port. “We welcome the ongoing commitment of this government towards the arts and wish the Stephenville Theatre Festival a successful 33rd season.”
