Walking Trail to be Developed in Chamberlains Park

The Chamberlains Park Action Committee will develop a walking trail in Chamberlains Park thanks in part to a $15,000 grant provided through the Provincial Government’s Capital Grant Program.

“The committee is in the early stages of developing the walking trail,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “This funding will help make the walking trail a reality. Overall, it will be a welcome addition to the park, especially to avid walkers in the community.”

The Chamberlains Park Action Committee is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities, and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.

Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides a total annual investment of $1.3 million to the Capital Grant Program. Since the launch of the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming, and athlete development throughout the province.
