Seal Cove Receives $15,000 for Recreational Infrastructure Improvements
The Town of Seal Cove has received $15,000 through the Provincial Government’s Capital Grant Program to assist with repairs and upgrades to its community and recreational centre.
“This investment will help the Town of Seal Cove offset the cost of upgrading the community’s recreational facility, including replacing windows and shingles, repairing the deck and wheel chair ramp, and upgrading the oil tank,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “Our support will help make this facility a safe, accessible, and comfortable place for residents to engage in recreational activities.”
The Town of Seal Cove is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions that have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through the latest Capital Grant Program investments.
“I am very pleased that our government is continuing to invest in projects that enhance not only community infrastructure but also the recreational and social needs of residents,” said Baie Verte-Springdale MHA Kevin Pollard. “I applaud Mayor Winston May and the Town of Seal Cove for their keen interest in seeking these improvements.”
Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides $11.5 million to support recreation and sport in the province. Since the launch of the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming, and athlete development throughout the province.
