St. Kevin’s High School Benefits from $15,000
Recreational Infrastructure Investment
St. Kevin’s High School, Goulds, has received $15,000 through the Provincial Government’s 2011 Capital Grant Program to help with costs associated with development of a multipurpose green space adjacent to the school.
“This funding will be used to help develop a green space for students of St. Kevin’s High and area residents so they can participate in outside activities such as walking and playing soccer,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “Facilities such as these are an integral component of physical, recreational and social activities in a community.”
St. Kevin’s High School is among more than 50 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions which have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
“I am delighted that the students of St. Kevin’s High School will benefit from this multipurpose area,” said Kilbride MHA John Dinn. “This space will certainly help to encourage participation in a variety of recreational activities, which in turn will contribute to the overall good health and well-being of our youth.”
Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador provides a total annual investment of $1.3 million to the Capital Grant Program. Since the launch of the Provincial Government’s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million has been committed to recreational and sport infrastructure, programming, and athlete development throughout the province.
