Cultural Sector Receives Additional Financial Boost

The Provincial Government has provided an additional $40,000 through the Cultural Economic Development program (CEDP) for specific projects being undertaken by individuals and organizations working within the province’s cultural sector.

“Our province is blessed with an abundance of talented professional artists working in a vibrant cultural environment that contributes significantly to both our economy and our quality of life,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “These latest investments provide funding to a number of cultural activities in the theatre, dance and visual arts sectors, and will assist with the continued promotion and growth of our cultural industries.

In addition to CEDP funding previously announced for the cultural sector, recent investments include:

Budget 2010: The Right Investments – For Our Children and Our Future, provides about $2.8 million through the CEDP to support arts, cultural and heritage initiatives throughout the province. CEDP applications are considered based on the strength of the business plans, vision, and potential development within the sector.
