Open Call for Minor Project Capital Grant Program

Organizations throughout the province are being encouraged to apply to the Provincial Government’s Minor Project Capital Grant Program, which assists eligible applicants with the costs associated with minor upgrades to recreation and sport facilities and equipment.

“As a government, we want all residents to have the opportunity to live healthy and physically active lives,” said Minister French. “This program provides funding that will assist various community groups and organizations to take those first steps to improving recreation and sport facilities and equipment, in turn providing a safe and welcoming environment to those that avail of them.”

Under the Minor Project Capital Grant Program, successful applicants receive grants from $1,000 to $3,000 for projects that support physical activity and recreational opportunities for residents within a community and surrounding region.

Budget 2010: The Right Investments – For Our Children and Our Future provides $1.3 million in new funding to improve existing programming, and introduce initiatives which support the goals of the provincial recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador (2007). Since the launch of the strategy, more than $70 million in new Provincial Government funding has been committed to support recreational and sport infrastructure, equipment and programming throughout the province.
