Mary Queen of the World School Receives Boost for Recreation Area
The Mount Pearl Lions Club has received a $15,000 grant from the Provincial Government’s Capital Grant Program to upgrade the playground area of Mary Queen of the World School.
“This funding will be used to assist with the purchase of new equipment, safety fencing and sand fill for the school’s playground area,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “These upgrades will help ensure children and youth have a safe and inviting area to engage in outdoor sports and physical activity during and after school."
The Mount Pearl Lions Club is among more than 40 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions which have received funding to upgrade recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
“This is a great example of what is possible when a community comes together,” said Steve Kent, MHA for Mount Pearl North. “Mary Queen of the World students will really benefit from new playground infrastructure, and I'm thrilled that our Provincial Government and the Mount Pearl Lions Club are working together to help make this happen.”
