Trout River Receives Support for Outdoor Basketball Court
The Town of Trout River has received a $15,000 grant from the Provincial Government’s 2010 Capital Grant Program to help provide new and improved recreational infrastructure.
“The funding will be used to help build a new outdoor basketball court adjacent to newly-installed playground equipment,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. “The project will be a welcome addition to the town’s recreation facility, frequented by children, youth and area residents for physical and social activities.”
The Town of Trout River is among more than 40 community-based organizations, municipalities and recreation commissions which have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
“It is really important to the people of Trout River that we have good recreational facilities,” said Wallace Young, MHA for St. Barbe. “It makes a difference to people when they can gather to have fun, socialize and exercise within their community and this funding will help us develop these facilities.”
