Winter Tourism Campaign Encourages Residents to Enjoy the Season

Beginning this week, residents throughout Newfoundland and Labrador can expect to receive a copy of Winter Thrills in their mailboxes, the final instalment in the Provincial Government's For the Love of NL resident tourism promotional campaign.

“Over the past year, the Summer Love and Autumn Bliss campaigns encouraged residents to discover new ways to have fun close to home – and Winter Thrills continues with that theme, highlighting the fact that Newfoundland and Labrador also offers a wide array of activities, adventures and quiet getaways designed to make the most of winter vacation opportunities,” said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.

“This campaign offers residents great deals on winter vacation packages, whether it's for skiing, snowmobiling, or just kicking back for the weekend at fabulous accommodations and enjoying the comfort and cuisine,” Minister French added.

Since 2003, the Provincial Government has more than doubled its annual investment in tourism marketing, from $6 million to $13 million. In 2009, the total resident and non-resident tourism industry contributed about $850 million to the Newfoundland and Labrador economy.

The Winter Thrills campaign combines radio and direct mail advertising with participation from almost 30 tourism industry operators across the province. Vacation packages are also available at www.fortheloveofnl.ca
