Community
Centre Receives Funding for Upgrades
The Kilbride Lions Community
Centre has received a $15,000 grant from the 2010 Provincial
Government's Capital Grant Program to assist with infrastructure
upgrades.
"This funding will be used to
assist with the conversion of the kitchen, bar and storage areas
at the Kilbride Lions Community Centre into a small, modern
kitchen and a craft and activities room," said the Honourable
Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.
"These upgrades will provide the children, youth and seniors in
the community a greater opportunity to access various recreation
and social activities offered at the community centre."
The City of St. John's is among
more than 40 community-based organizations, municipalities and
recreation commissions which have received funding to upgrade
their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest
Capital Grant Program investments.
"This is fantastic news for the
Lions Community Centre and the many individuals and groups who
avail of this wonderful facility," said Kilbride MHA John Dinn.
"The upgrades to this building will be enjoyed by seniors,
children and family resource participants alike for many years
to come, enhancing social and recreational experiences for all."
