Normans Cove - Long Cove Pool to be Upgraded

The Samuel J. Newhook community pool in Normans Cove - Long Cove will be upgraded with the help of a $14,200 investment provided through the Provincial Governments 2010 Capital Grant Program.

The funding will assist with the replacement of the pool liner and upgrades to the change rooms, said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. The Provincial Government is committed to encouraging more people to adopt more active, healthy lifestyles by upgrading recreation infrastructure and generally providing a more pleasant environment in which citizens of all ages can take part in physical activity.

Normans Cove - Long Cove Sports and Recreation is among more than 40 recreation commissions, municipalities, and community-based organizations throughout the province which have received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.

I am very pleased with the awarding of this grant to the recreation committee of Normans Cove - Long Cove, said Bellevue MHA Calvin Peach. Recreation facilities and equipment are very important to our towns and grants such as this will assist in maintaining and supporting the future of recreation for residents throughout the region.
